During the public vetting of Trump cabinet nominees, Mitt Romney was in the running for Secretary of State. One of the stories to come out of this was that Romney was asked to publicly apologize for statements about Trump, that he was a “con man” and a “phony,” for example. Romney did not apologize and he is not the nominee for State.
At one point, Trump lackey Roger Stone said that Trump only wanted to torture Romney by holding the position over his head for a few weeks. If true, it means that Donald Trump was being phony with Romney about his intentions and pulling a con on him. So, were Trump’s intentions sincere, which would annoy much of his base, or were they phony, which would prove Romney right about Trump’s negative qualities.
I remain indifferent.
