Days of Change

Surprisingly, I Have an Opinion on Daylight Saving | November 1, 2015

There are at least 3 problems I have with Daylight Saving Time (no s at the end). First, it is useless for those of us who have to leave home early in the morning. Under the old system, I would have a couple extra weeks of dawn before the days were too short. Now, we “fall back” just in time for it to be too dark in the morning to matter.

Second, we are creating a time system that throws people off and possibly kills some under the theory that the extra hour a day somehow uses less energy or promotes more activity. Neither of which are true. Finally, we now spend about 7 months sprung forward. That means we spend less than half the time in the correct solar pattern. Why are we doing this at all?

  1. Not at all surprising to who regards the return to real time as the greatest overnight of the year. My biorhythm is screwed up for 7 months a year for an alledgely energy saving measure from WW II. And as you say Why are we doing this at all?. Because some dumb ass politician is making money off it, that’s why.

  2. THANK YOU!!! I have had it with this craziness. It is archaic. My household runs on a circadian rhythm. This savings business might be good for the northerners, but it is Hell for the south.
