Days of Change

Don’t Get Caught | February 10, 2015

Lyin’ Brian Williams and his tall tales have forced NBC News to take a stand to reduce any further damage to their credibility. Who are we kidding? Ratings went into a free-fall after the misremembering non-apology Williams gave before his self-appointed vacation. Now he is suspended from NBC News for six months with no pay, something that was probably negotiated under threat of Williams losing his job outright.

This step restores a balance of NBC (and other networks) having journalistic standards and puts the blame at the feet of a news anchor who apparently has trouble with the truth. It says nothing, however, about the many factual errors made in the news and the unwavering liberal slant of the editorial division. In effect, this is a punishment to Williams specifically for getting caught. His personal embellishments did nothing to make Obama look better, a failure in the major media.

He went under the bus, as many others did in the 8 years since Obama declared his candidacy. Reverend Wright was the first, having his invocation at an event pulled at the last minute. Brian Williams is the latest, but he won’t be the last.
