Days of Change

The History of Microagression | January 6, 2015

Tonight, I watched ABC’s miniseries Agent Carter. This was based on a character from the first Captain America movie, but a few years after World War 2. Instead of the story, I was distracted by the constant drum beat of how hard it was to be a woman in that era. I’m surprised they didn’t play “This is a Man’s World” over the opening credits.

I think the network may want to try to entertain instead of inform. Tonight, they didn’t do much of either.

  1. Coincidentally, I’m reading a novel set in the Napoleonic era, and I’m seeing how badly off women were in England and America, realizing how many years it would be before women could even vote, let alone have property rights, and feeling very grateful to be here and now, now there and then.
