Day 319

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Not to disparage my conspiracy minded friends, but the idea that there is some massive effort at misdirection going on is in the same family as President Jackass being such a genius that he’s playing 11-dimensional chess that we can’t possibly understand. There are a lot of things at work because the White House can’t focus and Congress can’t prioritize.

It’s been proven that people who “multi-task” are much less effective than they think they are. They may even be less effective than if they did one task at a time. It helps that the administration is so screwed up it’s hard to fight against any one thing, but it also means they can’t pick a single thing either. It turns out that a jack of all trades is a master of none.

This is why O’Keefe and Giles were so effective in the last week. They focused in on one organization (albeit with many tentacles) and showed how blatant they were after decades of neglect and free passes from Washington. Don’t bite off more than you can chew and you might be able to eat it all.

The original plan was Stimulus with all the goodies for ACORN and social welfare groups, then Cap and Trade, then Health Care. Well, Stimulus passed, but with a trim and some monetary redirection from the 3 “Republicans” who put it over the top. Cap and Trade wallowed in the House and it all but dead in the Senate. Now, there’s Health Care.

The plan the Kool Aid Crew thought they were getting in 2008 is gone. Now, liberals are fighting for a “public option” which will be budget busting Medicaid for everyone. What the adminstration wants to push through is something pointless that will force insurance companies to cover everyone and allow for screening tests. Some of the tests have little effect on cure rates and are usually more expensive in the long run. It’s another non-tax tax on the middle class. Plus, they could have done this on Day 1.

An unprepared person can look busy. A prepared person can look idle, because they plan ahead. It’s a good idea not to imbue your opponent with skills they don’t have because they don’t have any skills at all.
