Day 1256 – Justice Denied

I’m not sure what the parents of Trayvon Martin expected when they called for the arrest of George Zimmerman. Perhaps they thought Zimmerman would flee or the cops would sweep the case under the rug. Trayvon’s mother claims to be satisfied with the arrest. Of course, we dropped Hammurabi’s code a few years ago and the families of victims are not actually part of the justice system. At least they all but assured Zimmerman’s acquittal.

Basically, our system of justice would dictate that the prejudicial environment against Zimmerman would force his release but many judges will fear a racial backlash if they throw the case out. Will we end up like Rodney King, where suspects were found not guilty, people rioted and the White House made sure that they were found guilty of federal charges?
