Day 177

I won’t take the easy joke of Fox airing “Lie to Me” instead of Obama’s 100 Day spectacular. I will point out that Fox, which is consistently 3rd-4th in the ratings, won the hour with an impressive 8 million viewers.

This is both good and bad. Either this was a protest of a media whore ruining prime time for the 8th week or an indication of people who don’t really care about anything. Half of eligible voters don’t vote. They could decide any election. They choose not to.

If the people who were ideologically similar to the conservative Republican base all voted, they would blow away the registered Democratic voters, all the time. Turnout is and always has been key. Bush won in 2004 by getting out the base. Howard Dean got his generic candidates elected because of massive infusions of money and a “non-partisan” government paid organization to carry the Democrats’ water.

I love the PUMAs, I don’t particularly love the Republican party. If stupid people didn’t vote and smart people did, I wouldn’t worry about finances or political gamesmanship. However, advertising is key and a win is a win. The Republicans can easily win with a tactic of playing to the base. Liberals and the media are incapable of acknowledging the fact that the base can beat their side in an election. They can’t say the Republicans are lying by being centrist if they aren’t.

I have a request for the Republicans Party. Support the things that you support. Do what you came to DC to do in the first place. If you’re a Republican, run in a primary if you think you can do better than your current member of Congress. In other words, don’t lie to me.

Day 176

Conservatives are frequently treated like social Darwinists. Supposedly, they think it’s okay for some guy to make as much money as possible while old people are eating cat food while living in an old refrigerator box. Conservatives call those people libertarians. Liberals believe in the rights of people, except for preborn babies, citizens who own guns and Americans who don’t want their hard earned money to go into ACORN’s pockets and China’s debt buying fund.

In the end, it comes down to the Golden rule; he who has the gold makes the rules. Never has this been the case more than under the Obama Administration. Not only have trillions gone to the Gold(man Sachs) owners in the banking industry, George Soros, Hollywood and Obama’s rich personal friends, Democrats are doing whatever they want. The media (and that is a catch all for MSNBC, CNN, The New York Times and basically any other “news” organization that is financial trouble) loves the idea of the president so much that they won’t look at what he does.

This far in, the Democrats are large in in charge. Everything bad is some underling’s fault (who is never fired) and any happy accident was all according to Obama’s plan. Another Democrat Representative was sworn in, Arlen Specter changed parties (sorta) and Al Franken is one miscarriage of justice from being #60. Right or wrong doesn’t matter. One group can write all the laws, spend more in 100 days than the previous administration in 8 years and rework Congressional districts so that the Republicans will never win again.

Now, the Democrats are the social Darwinists. Democracy and morality don’t matter. Checks and balances don’t matter. “We won,” is the rallying cry and the people of this country have not shown them otherwise. Not once since this election have the people done anything but make the party in power more powerful. Remember the phrase “strong and wrong?” They’re strong.

Is the republic stronger anymore?

Night 175

Another night post, since the idiots in Washington DC are conspiring to make Benedict Arlen and President 100 the big stories.

Darth Vader is the good guy when you live on the Death Star.

I don’t usually read Hillbuzz (never really got around to it) but I was amazed at the respect for the job Dick Cheney did for 8 years posted there yesterday. The conservative base had a fractured relationship with GW Bush, but they always could turn to Cheney for direction. He never really wanted the job of VP and didn’t tow the like to keep it. If he were asked to resign, he probably would have done it happily, with the millions he already had.

As I look at my newfound respect for Hillary Clinton (I’m actually shamed for making fun of the crying now) and the respect of the liberals who value freedom AND security, I think there’s a strong coalition building. And Arlen Specter is not going to be part of it.

Day 175

My thoughts on Arlen Specter. Reprinted from comments on Uppity Woman.

The last time Democrats had a filibuster proof majority was when Carter came in. Be careful what you wish for.

Since the Democratic side has so many more members, there will automatically be more “centrist” Democrats that Republicans. The only GOP members who survived were in safe districts or Senators who weren’t up for re-election in 2006 or 2008.

People are stupid. They vote in one party in a presidential election then they regret it. For Bush, it took 6 years into his administration. For Clinton, it took 2 years. Reagan never had a House majority and kept the Senate for 6 years.

I really don’t like Spectre. I don’t agree with his abortion views, his stimulus views, the fact that he took the GOP’s money to beat his primary opponent in a safe political year because PA Republicans hated him 5 years ago. I’m sure Democrats don’t like what he did during the Thomas hearings, and I wasn’t crazy about it, either.

He represents every crass thing that’s wrong about politicans now. If the Democrats want him, they can have him. They have about 550 days left.

Day 174

Wow, it only took three months for Obama and swine to appear in the same sentences in the news.

I’ll get back to that. But this was a day full of presidential disasters. First is the not heavily reported story of the Presidential Aircraft re-enacting 9/11 in New York City (which is already in a Swine Flu panic) today. It seems that Team Narcissist wanted a new picture of the President’s plane intersecting with the Statue of Liberty in the background. Good way to scare the public with unannounced low flying aircraft and a great use of those precious carbon credits.

Also, TOTUS was a bad machine today. President Summer stock pulled the equivalent of calling “Line?” when the prompter didn’t match up with the heartfelt script he was reading. How difficult for him. First, Justice Roberts, now the Telerompter operator. Maybe he should just tape all his speeches and lip sync.

And now, the Swine Flu. First of all, the Federal government has no HHS secretary or head of the FDA after 100 freakin’ days. But I can’t say too much against that, given Giethner’s tenure at treasury so far. Instead, we have Janet Napolitano raiding the VFW instead of protecting us from illegal border crossers with no medical documentation.

THIS is what you get with a one-term Senator at the helm, advised by some (M)Ad Man that thinks a shiny news conference and another picture of the president’s gas-guzzling plane will whip the people into an Obot frenzy. This is sheer incompetence, led by megalomaniacs in Congress and Financial firms more powerful than 90% of the nations of the world.

I wonder what Essence and the Daily Kos will ask him Wednesday, because they will be the only ones he takes questions from.

Day 173

With an unspectacular week on the stock market, we’re looking at another mediocre slide in the economy. And the numbers aren’t very good. Unemployment is growing. Foreclosures are high. Home sales are sad considering the level of bargains.

Now, we have swine flu coming to the country. I find myself alternating between fear of the domestic situation and fear of the international one. Clinton was a domestic president who was just awful internationally. Bush was burdened with international issue to the extent of losing focus on domestic ones. The current president is bad at both. But does that matter?

For some time, conservatives have claimed that the media dictates how people see bad times. Focusing on the problems make people scared and worried and disrupts the economy. After nearly 100 days in office, people in polls feel better about their employment and their stability with absolutely no evidence to back it up.

Nations do not end because of their leaders. They end when the people do not see what’s in front of their eyes. We all feel like THEY are doing something to US. In reality, we are the government, we have the power. Ultimately, we have to decide if we want liberty or more bread and circuses on the way to our destruction.

Day 172

“Terrorists have dirty beards and blow up airports.”

That is from the 1994 movie “The Chase” starring Charlie Sheen. In fact, that was a line his character Jack said after being called a terrorist. The irony is that Sheen is now fully on board the 9/11 inside job conspiracy wagon. And all those truther liars think that we are the terrorists.

Terrorists blow up airports and any other building with people inside. They hijack planes and crash them into buildings. They cut the heads off civilians. Terrorists also support regimes that treat women like animals. The Unitied States does not do this.

One of the bigger PUMA sites is siding with the jerk in the White House over this memo decision. His claim is that waterboarding, bugs and sleepless nights are worse than SERE training for American soldiers because the Americans volunteered for it. They can leave at any time. Let’s put aside the fact that when you commit terrorism, you have signed on to being the government’s guest for the near future. This argument is stupid on its face because ANY captivity could be considered torture.

The gold standard of taking prisoners is the Geneva Convention. Technically, since the Taliban have neither rank nor serial number, they are not protected under these guidelines. Leaving that aside, there are a lot of things we could do under the Geneva convention. We can kill every single Taliban member who does not surrender on the battlefield. We can bomb a country nonstop if we avoid population centers. We could put prisoners in a jail cell for 23 hours a day with no Koran, no religious services and a steady diet of soy paste with nutrients and all the water they can drink.

The pirate standoff lasted 4 days. It seems likely that had the military had authorization the first time Captain Phillips tried to escape, this would have ended sooner. The president fretted about the lives of FOUR lowlife pirates. What happens in Afghanistan or Pakistan when airstrikes are called for? How do we deal with prisoners with no jail for them? What is the end game for the administration in the Middle East that doesn’t end in millions of human beings living under miserable fundamentalist tyranny?

And why the hell are Democrats against Obama taking HIS side? I guess that Cheney hatred runs deep, even though he’s been out of office for 6 months.

Day 171

Kirsten Gillebrandt’s seat went to a Democrat. The race was (is) very tight with a margin of less than 0.3% The Republicans made an effort while Democrats basically left this one alone. While it may be quick to judge this as important to the mood of the country in general, I will say it bodes well for the status quo.

Nearly 100 days out and the Bowing One has approval ratings nearly equal to Bush in 2001. Remember, at this point Bush had gotten about 0.3% less votes than Gore in the election and 911 was just a number that people called to get the police. Even worse, the current president has a greater than 80% approval rating among self-described Democrats and less than 30% among Republicans. He’s a divider, not a uniter.

As big of an ass as this guy is, the problem is Congress. Reid and Pelosi have set the tone, passed the legislation and just like with his own dog, the president is being led around like the beta in the pack. If we keep supporting the same legislators, we’ll keep getting the same results.

This is a battle to save this country. It’s time for everyone to get their head screwed on straight. If you like your party over your country, you are the problem. If you think everyone in Congress sucks except for YOUR Representative, you are the problem. We cannot let one single office holder keep that office with impunity. Don’t let inertia keep them in. Vote for the other candidate. Teach them that the US does not have a protected political class. Make your legislator work for YOU.

Day 170

This is not going to be a short trip.

I came to the conclusion today that there will not be a single event or moment where people will turn against this president. Not even a terrorist attack would do that. People are invested in the success of the ideology if not the man. Even PUMAs who saw through the charade early on grudgingly accept that he did the right thing with some of this liberal legislation. They want Al Franken to steal the Senate election. People will lose hope in change one freed mind at a time

But the course is getting more bumpy. Obama thought the “torture memo” business would be a quick way to make himself look good. He might have recalled the truth commissions of South Africa where atrocities were documented but not prosecuted in order to get the whole truth out. But as he and others have said, “we won” and those who helped him win are out for blood.

George Soros, the man SNL called the owner of the Democratic Party, has funneled more Move On money into doing the opposite. He and the “winners” seek to dwell on the past and send the entire Bush White House to jail. And he’s cashing in on the favors the current administration owes him to do it.

This is where the battle happens. Bush went from a nail biter election to a comfortable victory over the issue of security. Liberals who don’t like conservatism but believed in the basic liberty in freedom from the fear of death turned to Bush’s side during the War on Terror. When the curent White House believes that terrorists are political dissenters, soldiers are potential terrorists and political grudges are enforced by their political sugar daddy, they’ll wish for the 63% approval rating they’ve dropped to in under 100 days.

Day 169

In 2005, celebrity interviewer Neil Strauss wrote a book called “The Game” about the Pick-Up Artist community. The art is the ability of these men to emulate the style of ladies’ men who are able to talk a number of women into bed. Strauss’ book quickly became autobiographical when he turned into an admired pick-up artist and addicted to the rush of getting women to hookup with him with little effort. The book ended with him falling for the one woman who was immune to his “game.”

Except that a few years later, he had broken up with this woman and plunged full-time into the world of picking up random women and teaching others how to do it. The techniques are all about creating interest and excitement. The pick-up artists themselves also become addicted to the lifestyle and have less chance of having a real romantic relationship.

Time magazine reported this week that Obama has a number of behaviorists since the time of the campaign working to convince people of the Obama brand. These experts are trying to pick up voters and citizens of this country using hackneyed, yet effective, psychological tactics.

One method was to explain that everyone is voting this year. But this wasn’t said about ALL voters, just Obama supporters and “young” people. I mentioned this about a week ago. Voting for Obama was “cool” and voting for McCain was uncool.

While pick-up and politics may be different, there is very little difference with Obama as a pick-up candidate. The first thing a pick-up artist does is to get a woman’s attention and then walk away. This is important as it leaves her wanting more and gives one less of a chance to make an ass of himself. Except for Obama’s “inspiring story” we know very little about him. It creates a false positive image of him.

Another technique of the pick-up artist is AMOG. This is a way to appear as the alpha male of group and marginalize male competition. AMOGing is important, since a natural leader (like John McCain) has more authority than a regular male. What stood out to me was the TARP bailout. McCain tried to use shame and responsibility to get Obama to join him in suspending the campaign to “fix” the bill. But shame is something you put behind when you’re gaming people. The fake alpha male makes the beta males think he’s the alpha. It’s style over substance.

Another catch phrase in pick up is kino escalation. The idea is that using kinesthetic touching creates a sense of intimacy. Ever wonder why Obama excessively touches people who interview him? Obama seems to thrive on the adoration of people, not their respect or agreement. He lets other people make policy, then takes credit or heaps blame as needed.

Strauss’ own message board has a high opinion of Obama’s game. Pick-up artists are as susceptible to psychological manipulation as they are at using it. Expectedly, they don’t think much of Sarah Palin. She is bad at gaming people. She says what she believes. She gets visibly angry at people like Katie Couric instead of AMOGing her. She’s real and the last thing you want in pick-up is to be real.

The reality is that a guy who has even a little ability to think on his feet can pick up women. However, there is always a barrier between fascination and adoration that will likely not be crossed in the relationship. Most women will not be picked up by technique alone, but even a small improvement in dating will have an effect. It only took 6% of voters to change the balance.
